WELCOME…..

... to the web site of the GREAT WESTERN BUDGERIGAR SOCIETY, INC. The Great Western Budgerigar Society is one of the largest bird clubs solely interested in improving the breeding, handling, care, and exhibition of the English Budgerigar. Its goal is to exchange and distribute information both scientific and practical, which will increase the knowledge and skill of its members towards these goals.

This organization consistently stages the largest all-Budgie show in the nation. It was the host of the 1982 All American held aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Almost 1300 birds were staged at this event making it the largest All American in recent history. It was again the host of the prestige show of the American Budgerigar Society, the 2001 All America, held in Claremont, California, in November 2001. This show was the largest all-Budgie show in the United States with an entry of over 600 birds.

Two top quality shows are scheduled for the 2007 show season.  The first is the Great Western Spring Classic on July 15 will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 1323 Magnolia Avenue, Monrovia, California.  The second and largest show , the Great Western Round-Up, will be held on November 16-18 at Taylor Hall, 1775 Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont, California.  This year we celebrate our 53rd Round-Up and have gone all out to present a show worth winning.   This prestigious show brings the show season to a close with a super raffle, fantastic banquet, and a grand array of awards.  We hope you will join us at this super celebration!

Meetings are held every second Wednesday of the month at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center, 3936 Muscatel Avenue, Rosemead, California. Unique programs of interest to the Budgerigar fancier are presented. The meetings include a super raffle of bird related items and frequently an exhibition Budgerigar or two.

Visitors are always welcome and should you wish to become a member, a membership application may be found elsewhere on our web site. Members receive our monthly Great Western Budgerigar Society Bulletin which contains articles, show dates, show winners, and items of interest to the Budgerigar breeder.
